Details

Perennial of the Year 2013!

Not only does this Solomon's Seal have lovely variegated foliage but…wait for it...they're fragrant too!

Polygonatum, commonly known as Solomon's Seal, is a well-known woodland plant. For best results plant it in partial to complete shade. Its graceful, arching stems offer charming little white, bell-shaped flowers. Their sweet fragrance is like a cross between Lilies and Hyacinths and is strongest on warm evenings. Solomon's Seal will naturalize over time to form a nice colony. Arching, angular stems bearing alternate, lance-shaped leaves, 2 to 6 inches long. This is a terrific plant for shady areas and pairs well with Astilbes and Ferns.
