'White Swan' is one of Pam's Faves this season...this is what she has to say:
I’ve always been a fan of cone flowers but there’s something about White Swan that draws my eye to them. Could it be the pure white petals? Perhaps it’s the larger than normal centre cones. Maybe it’s the fact that the bees are drawn to them. Or could it be that they just look awesome?
This beautiful white hybrid of the standard purple coneflower is a bee magnet!
It's fragrant blooms will attract you too! 'White Swan' has large, daisy-like flowers that gracefully droop around the centre cone that's coppery-orange. These beauties bloom pretty much all summer long with their best display in late June to late July. It's tall flower stalks make it an ideal cut flower but if you decide to leave them growing in the garden the dead flower stems will remain erect well into the winter and the blackened cones will be visited by birds that feed on the seeds.
