Chasmanthium 'River Mist' is one of Elke's Faves this season...this is what she has to say:
‘River Mist’ has a bamboo-like appearance and gorgeous, oat-like seed heads. It’s a forgiving plant: grow it in full sun to full shade and in soil conditions from normal to sandy to clay. Bonus! Often I use it as a cut flower as it remains attractive from mid summer until it’s covered in snow.
‘River Mist’ has a lot going for it! You can grow it sun or shade and it’s suitable for the garden and containers. Plus it simply looks fabulous.
Chasmanthium latifolium 'River Mist' is a clump-forming, upright, ornamental grass. This grass provides ornamental interest not only with its variegated foliage but also with its flat, drooping seed heads which hang on thread-like pedicils from slightly arching stems. Seed heads will flutter gently in the lightest of breezes. Seed heads emerge green but turn purplish bronze by late summer. Excellent for dried flower arrangements.
