This trowel has been designed to the specifications of Christopher Lloyd - one of Britian’s most beloved and respected horticulturalists. It was one of his favourite tools for planting and weeding. It’s been given the name of Great Dixter in honour of the family home and gardens of Christopher Lloyd: a place of pilgrimage for horticulturalists across the world.
The tool itself is hand-forged in Holland to the highest of standards by the artisans of Sneeboer Tools. Every one of the tools in the Sneeboer range is ergonomically designed with the weight and shape of the head, the length of handle and the overall balance taken into consideration. The unique design has been used for decades if not generations and has, therefore, been thoroughly tried and tested. The hand-forging means that no two tools are ever exactly the same - each and every one is an individual work of art. But all do share one common characteristic. They are a Sneeboer tool.
The Great Dixter Trowel is narrow to allow you into tight spaces but sturdy for leverage when weeding difficult plants. The rounded tip gives you a good cutting surface and the length of blade allows for proper depth in the soil. The small blade of the Great Dixter Trowel makes it easy to dig, even in the most heavy clay soil. With its durable ash wood handle and stainless steel blade this is a tool that will last a lifetime.
