Modern day Canadian plant sleuth & hybridizer, Alan McMurtrie from Toronto, Ontario has travelled extensively in search of discovering lost varieties of Iris reticulata. His adventures abroad have led him to hybridizing some of the most beautiful new dwarf irises we've ever seen. We're proud to carry a few of his special introductions and we're sure that you too will become a fan!
'Sea Breeze' will remind you of a stunningly sunny day's walk along the beach. The bright banners are bluebird-blue, with boldly contrasting pristine-white tips. A central splash of golden-yellow on the pale blue falls is reminiscent of ocean waves and sunny skies.
Belonging to the Reticulata group of irises, danfordiae is characterized by its short stature, large flower in relationship to the plant as a whole and very early flowering. They are very hardy little plants. Mix them in amongst other traditional early bloomers such as crocus, winter aconites and snowdrops.
