This Monkshood’s flowers are creamy white. They like full sun with consistent moisture, rarely need staking and come back bigger and better each year.

Aconitum napellus, commonly known as Monkshood, has flowers that appear in the summer and into autumn. This attractive plant is actually a member of the same family as the buttercups, but the flowers are more highly developed and shaped like the hood of a monk's habit. The height given should be considered an average as it will be somewhat shorter in sun and taller in shade. The leaves are large and lustrous, dark green. The stalks are usually strong enough to hold the flowers without the need for staking.

Monkshood is especially long flowering and makes a good cut flower. Plant it in a woodland setting and use it as a great substitute for Delphinium. Please note that all parts of the plant are poisonous, particularly the roots. This may be why it is also considered deer resistant!
