Darwin Hybrid Tulip 'World Friendship' is one of Elke's Faves this season...this is what she has to say:
I honestly believe that our gardens are a reflection of who we are as people. That's why I've chosen 'World Friendship' this season. I think these sunny blooms perfectly reflect all we strive for in this world - love, understanding, friendship and compassion. I'll be planting lots of these this fall!
Officially named at the World Tulip Summit in 2015, World Friendship tulip now serves as a worldwinde 'flower ambassador' symbolizing peace and friendship.
World Friendship has lovely, uniform petals of pale yellow, which is the symbolic colour of friendship. It's classic form atop strong stems make it a standout in the spring garden as well as a cut flower. What a lovely way to express your desire for world peace and friendship! These hybrid tulips are the amazing result of cross breeding between Fosteriana and Darwin (Single Late) tulips. Darwin Hybrids are very tall plants and when their gigantic blooms open up flat towards the end of their flowering time, they can measure as much as 5-7 in (12-17cm) in diameter. They make a gorgeous display either in the garden or as cut flowers in a vase: a real show stopper!
