Darwin Hybrid Tulip 'Beauty of Spring' is one of Wendy's Faves this season...this is what she has to say:
I love every flower that has a two-toned nature and this butter yellow 'beauty', with freely feathered crimson edges, is astonishing! The large, globe-shaped flowers will improve in colour as they mature and if left to die back naturally can produce more bulbs and blooms in the future.
These extra-large flowers put on quite a show in mid spring. Their eye-catching colours of yellow and red intensify as the flowers mature.
These hybrid tulips are the amazing result of cross breeding between Fosteriana and Darwin (Single Late) tulips. Darwin Hybrids are very tall plants and when their gigantic blooms open up flat towards the end of their flowering time, they can measure as much as 5-7 in (12-17cm) in diameter. They make a gorgeous display either in the garden or as cut flowers in a vase: a real show stopper!
