This terrific grass is stays lovely until late in the season. Normally classified as zone 5-8 we have discovered that 'Karl Foerster' is growing well and thriving in zone 3!

'Karl Foerster' is a hybrid Feather Reed Grass which is valued for its early bloom, vertical lines and ability to grow in wet soils. It is a slowly-spreading, clump-forming, cool season ornamental grass which features an erect, slightly arching, slender clump of narrow, rich green leaves. In June, vertical flower stalks rise well above the foliage bearing narrow plumes of feathery, purplish-green flowers which turn golden as the seeds mature in summer. 'Karl Foerster' generally provides good continuing winter interest and looks amazing grown as a hedge!
