Aster dumosus 'Wood's Pink' is one of Pam's Faves this season...this is what she has to say:
Are you looking for late summer colour and food for the bees? I have good news for you. Asters are late season bloomers and anything that helps the bees is a must have in my garden. ‘Wood’s Pink‘ is bright and shiny and creates a happy look.
A lovely, clump-forming, compact Aster that will attract the bees in early autumn.
'Wood's Pink' is easily grown in well-drained soil in full sun but for best results use organically rich soil. Good air circulation and consistent moist soils with good drainage will reduce the chances of it developing powdery mildew. Thinning the stems in summer helps to promotes better air circulation. To assist in keeping it's compact form consider Pinching back the stems several times before in mid summer. Does not require staking. 'Wood's Pink' is ideal for containers but can also be used as an edging plant and in butterfly gardens.
