Fragrance is such an integral part of my gardening experience. My favourite pastime, in all seasons, is to wander through the garden, letting fragrance be my guide. The items I’ve chosen for this collection are my favourites for a fabulous fragrant summer in the garden.
Wendy's Fragrant Garden Collection includes:
2 Oriental Lily 'Starfighter' (16/18 cm bulbs)
This Lily has huge, star-shaped, raspberry red flowers that are outlined in bright white and peppered with dark spots. They are intensely fragrant and will perfume the air all around them.
1 Dianthus gratianopolitanusn 'Tiny Rubies' (2.5" plug)
Tiny with a mighty fragrance that is spicy, like cloves. These are great in rock gardens, containers and borders and are drought tolerant, once established. Dead head spent flowers for more blooms!
2 Rodgersia aesculifolia (bare roots)
Rodgersia leaves are architecturally lovely and worth having for that alone but when the flowers form you will thoroughly enjoy their candy like fragrance! I have grown one in a container for many years, in a shady spot and it continues to do very well.
2 Ismene 'Advance' (14/16 cm bulbs)
The exotic flowers of Ismene are like large orchids and their fragrance is sweet and reminiscent of sun tan lotion. Bold, beautiful and excellent in containers!
1 Paeonia 'Karl Rosenfeld' (bare root)
One of the most popular peonies, ‘Karl Rosenfeld’ features fragrant, bright crimson, double flowers in a semi-rose form.
