Eranthis hyemalis is one of Pam's Faves this season...this is what she has to say:
What delightful blooms these are. Eranthis hyemalis, also known as Winter Aconite, are one of the very first flowers to appear alongside Snowdrops in the spring. Bright, beautiful and a bee magnet - I think every garden should have a patch of these little beauties. The bees will thank you!
‘Winter Aconite' is a bright yellow buttercup-like flower that is set against a bright green ruff. Plant them in drifts with Single or Double Snowdrops for a late winter/early spring colour infusion.
Growing low to the ground, they create a virtual carpet of colour. Related to the Buttercup, these very early spring blooming bulbs produce a single yellow blossom per stem above a fine collar of green leaves. Leave them to naturalize in rock gardens and under trees.
