The Shelford hybrid strain of Eremurus was developed in the late 1800's by Sir Michael Foster of Great Shelford, Cambridge, England. They are considered a heritage variety and having sustained the test of time are loved by gardeners the world over!
Commonly know as Foxtail Lilies, these are especially impressive when planted against tall evergreens or at the back of a perennial border. Eremurus also make excellent, long lasting cut flowers for those special summer arrangements. They do require excellent drainage so be sure to plant them in a well draining spot or amend the soil with lots of gravel and course sand.
