Neptune's Gold offers delightful, irridescent electric blue flowers, that light up the garden in mid to late summer. They also have spiny, bright golden foliage…very unique!
Eryngium x zabelii, commonly called sea holly, is a hybrid cross between E. alpinum and E. bourgatii. Flowers bloom early to mid-summer. It is easily grown in dry, sandy, poor to moderately fertile, well-drained soils in full sun. 'Neptune's Gold' can tolerate both poor soil and drought. The colour intensity of the flowers is best in areas with full sun and cool nights. Deadhead flowers after bloom to retain good plant appearance and remember that since this is a taprooted plant it transplants poorly and is best left undisturbed once established.
