Commonly known as Blazing Star, Liatris spicata produces fluffy purple-flowered spikes. Simply fun to grow!
Blazing Star, do wonderfully in mixed borders. Its flowers are on dense spikes and open from the top of the stalk down. Fine grass-like, bright green leaves arise from a basal tuft which becomes longer in summer. They do not require staking. Liatris belongs to the aster family, with each flower head having only fluffy disk flowers, resembling "blazing stars" and no rays.
