Raspberry 'Double Delight' is one of Elke's Faves this season...this is what she has to say:
‘Double Delight’ produces berries on new growth which makes it a low maintainence plant that I can cut back in the fall. It is fast growing, has an excellent fall harvest, a sweet-sour flavour and it freezes well making it great for pies and smoothies. Tadaa ... win win all around!
This Primocane (fall-bearing) variety will produce fruit in late August and into the fall.
Developed by the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Morden Research Centre (MRC) breeding program in Manitoba, this raspberry is extremely cold-hardy and produces large fruit. This new cultivar is specifically adapted to colder prairie regions of Canada and northern USA. It responds well to complete cane removal in fall and is recommended for the following landscape applications: mass planting, naturalizing, woodland gardens and ochard/edible landscaping.
