'Striped Beauty' Large-flowering Crocus is one of Wendy's Faves this season...this is what she has to say:
After the long winter, there is nothing more uplifting than seeing the crocus ‘spring’ up in the garden. Striped Beauty is a perennial classic that plays an important role as an early pollen source for bees and other pollinating insects. Good for them and good for our mental well-being.
This large white flower is covered with distinctive purple pinstripes. We recommend planting them directly in your lawn and in large clusters in your flowerbeds. Great for containers too!
Crocus - the first sign of Spring! What's lovelier than seeing their colourful heads poking through the soil? Large Flowering Crocus come in all the traditional colours of purple, yellow and white and produce relatively large goblet shaped blooms. Their narrow leaves have an interesting silvery stripe down the middle. It's fun to watch how the blooms open wide on a sunny day and close up tight during rainy periods or when it cools down at night.
